Magdalena Arguelles

 

    Magdalena was born in Iloilo City, Philippines and immigrated with her family to Canada initially, then to the United States in the late 1960's.

 

    She studied painting at the School of the Art Institute (Chicago, Il) as well as printmaking at Santa Reparata School of Art (Florence,Italy) and at the Evanston Art Center (Evanston, Il).

 

    Her paintings explores her memories of childhood, as well as visual impressions throughout her travels and moments of daily life. These memories and impressions are incorporated within the context of the still life and the landscape. She uses water-based oils, collage and printmaking techniques to create the images within her paintings.
